Best Weapons

Which guns are actually worth using in GTA VI and GTA V — and which are just cooked.

GTA V — Best Weapons

🔫

Special Carbine Mk II — S Tier

Best all-round rifle in the game. High damage, great accuracy, fast reload. Put a drum mag and suppressor on it. This is your main weapon, no cap.

🔫

Combat MG Mk II — S Tier

Absolute menace. Best DPS in the game for on-foot combat. Heavy but worth it. Shreds everything.

🔫

Heavy Sniper Mk II — S Tier

With explosive rounds this is the most broken weapon in the game. One-shots everything including armoured vehicles. Keep explosive rounds for emergencies.

🔫

AP Pistol — A Tier

Best sidearm. High fire rate, good damage, works in vehicles. Always keep this as your secondary.

💀

Avoid: Pistol .50, Vintage Pistol

Cooked. Slow, weak, outclassed by the AP Pistol in every way. Don't waste your money.

GTA VI — Best Weapons

GTA VI has a more expanded weapon customisation system. Every gun can be modded heavily — barrel, stock, grip, sight, suppressor. The base weapon matters less than in GTA V because upgrades change everything.

🔫

Assault Rifle (fully modded) — S Tier

With the right attachments this is your bread and butter. Fast ADS, good damage, solid range.

🔫

SMG — A Tier for CQB

GTA VI's close quarters combat is better than V's. SMGs shine in buildings, tight spaces, and vehicle fights.

🔫

Sniper Rifle — A Tier

More realistic sniper mechanics. Learning the bullet drop is worth it — long range headshots feel incredible.

💀

Avoid: Unmodded pistols early game

Pistols are cooked until you mod them. Prioritise upgrading your rifle first, then come back.

Universal rule 💀

In both games: upgrade your main rifle first, always carry a suppressed sidearm, and never run without explosives. Unmodded guns are cooked. Mod everything.
