The Release Date
GTA VI is confirmed for 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar announced the release window in their official trailer and has not changed it. This is a real release, not vaporware — Rockstar has been working on this since 2014.
Launch platforms: PS5 & Xbox Series X/S only
No PS4, no Xbox One, no PC at launch. PC version expected 1–2 years after console launch based on Rockstar's history with GTA V and Red Dead 2.
What's Confirmed
Setting: Leonida (Vice City + surroundings)
Based on Miami and South Florida. Confirmed in Trailer 1 — Vice City is back and it looks absolutely cooked in the best way.
Playable characters: Jason & Lucia
First ever playable female protagonist in mainline GTA. Lucia is confirmed from Trailer 1. Jason is her partner. Both are confirmed playable.
Price: ~$70 USD
Standard next-gen game pricing. Some retailers have listed it at $69.99. No official price confirmed yet but expect $70.
GTA Online returns
GTA VI Online is confirmed. Rockstar has said it will be the biggest and most immersive GTA Online ever. Expect it to run for a decade+.
PC Version Timeline
Based on Rockstar's pattern: GTA V launched on PS3/Xbox 360 in September 2013, PC came in April 2015 — 18 months later. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on consoles in October 2018, PC came in November 2019 — 13 months later.
GTA VI PC version is likely late 2026 or early 2027. If you're PC-only, that's your window. In the meantime GTA V on PC with mods is genuinely one of the best gaming experiences available.
Why It's Taking So Long
GTA VI has been in some form of development since 2014 — over 10 years. Rockstar delayed it multiple times after the 2022 source code leak and to ensure quality. This is their most expensive and ambitious game ever. The budget is estimated at over $2 billion including marketing. When it drops, it will redefine what open world games are. No cap that is not an exaggeration.

GTA VI is coming. It is real. It is not delayed again (as of 2025). PS5 and Series X owners — start saving. PC players — wait for the PC version or grab a console. This is a generational game and the wait will be worth it fr fr.
